This is copyright 1941, and features footage that was shot in the 1930s. Opening: South American Vista (:06-:09). The Andes Mountains loom. Flowing waters below the equator in South America. Horses walk by. A man sits atop a horse. The iconic Gaucho, or cowboy. Argentina beef. Peru, people in the water, some cross a bridge. Small shanty town with natives of Peru. Women weave. Streets of an ancient Inca city, probably Cuzco. Snow capped mountains (:10-2:10). Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina. Statues, streets, people, cars, monuments. Fountains with water. Its center is the Plaza de Mayo, lined with stately 19th-century buildings including Casa Rosada, the iconic, balconied presidential palace. Other major attractions include Teatro Colón, a grand 1908 opera house with nearly 2,500 seats, and the modern MALBA or Latin American Art Museum, displaying Latin American art. Traffic officer. Cows get milked on a city street, and a customer buys a glass (2:11-3:35). People sit and a pigeon visits a man in the Plaza de Mayo. The man paints the wings of the pigeons. On the banks of the river, some men sing to the people from a boat. Another boat of people cheer them on and wave their arms. A Gaucho dance. A woman prepares mate tea in a gourd and serves it to another woman (3:36-5:26). Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is is one of the most visited cities in the Southern Hemisphere and is known for its natural settings, Carnival, samba, bossa nova, and balneario beaches such as Barra da Tijuca, Copacabana, Ipanema, and Leblon. A busy harbor in Rio. Spacious streets. Mosaic patterns on the city sidewalks. Busy streets with people. A vendor has a pet monkey. Parrot on a shoulder. Palm trees. Jockey Club of Rio. People come and watch the horse racing at the club. Brazilian women walk, they show off shawls (5:27-7:38). A few miles from Rio, people try and net butterflies. Butterflies of Brazil are very colorful. A woman works on artwork. Copacabana Beach. Large group of people at the beach. A cable car above Brazil at Sugarloaf Mountain.
