<description>This WWII newsreel features several wonderful segments. First, actress Veronica Lake is shown getting her famous hairstyle reconfigured in such a way that it would be safe, should she take on the kind of job that many "Rosie the Riveter" female workers took during the war. Safety caps are seen used by women war workers at the 1:53 mark. Industrial fashions are the "new" fashion. At the 2:25 mark an animated sequence, clearly also aimed at war workers, shows how manufacturing is dependent upon workers showing up to the plant every day and not being absentee. At the 3:30 mark, one of the big problems of the home front is shown, with lots of children idling at home and on the streets when their parents are working in the war plants. A child is seen left in a parked car and a movie theater while mommy works. An African Americna child is seen at the 4:30 mark locked up in her house, alone with her brother. A female judge in delinquency court gives a speech at the 5:30 mark, asking people to help with this problem. More volunteers are needed, and more community-based solutions to deal with these neglected children. At the 9 minute mark, a 1000 plane by the British Royal Air Force is seen against Bremen, Germany. This dates to June 6, 1942 and was undertaken by Halifax and Lancaster type aircraft. The planning of the raid and the raid itself is seen in great detail. The film ends with a rousing performance of the Air Corps Song, now known as the Song of the United States Air Force or "Off We Go Into the Wild Blue Yonder." Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed.
