It features journalist, actress and gossip columnist Hedda Hopper aka Elda Furry as she plays hostess for her grown son, Wlliam’s birthday. It features the dedication of the Motion Picture Relief Fund’s country home. In addition to being a leading society figure, Hedda Hopper was also a pivotal figure in the anti-Communist alarmism of the post-WW2 Hollywood scare.  Hopper's columns peaked in the 1940s with 35 million readers. She utilized this strong following to help to destroy careers of those in the entertainment industry with suspected ties to communism or homosexuality. She was also one of the driving forces of the Hollywood Blacklist which effectively barred directors, actors, musicians and other entertainment professionals from work by studios. Hopper was also a leading member of the Motion Picture Alliance for the Preservation of American Ideals. This film was produced by American film producer and director; Herbert Moulton (:13). The film opens with shots of Hedda’s home in Beverly Hills (:23). Hedda lounges in the sun in her back yard (:28). Her son; William Hopper (:44) sits with his wife Jane. William was the result of Dewolf Hopper’s fifth marriage to Hedda. Marten Lamont; American actor known for his role in 'Pride and Prejudice' of 1940 (:55) plays with a camera. Female stars of the silver screen, Marlene Dietrich and Jinx Falkenburg (1:09) chat with Kent Rogers (1:11). Jinx and Marlene discuss their favorite male actor of the time (1:38). William (1:52) reminisces over Hollywood memories of the past. Film wheels spin (2:57) as the old film stars cozy up with the 1916 American silent, ‘Battle of Hearts’ (3:12) staring Hedda. The film was directed by Oscar Apfel and distributed by Fox Film Corp. Close shots show Hedda portraying the female lead in the film (3:23). Hedda of today watches the film next to William (3:29). The group discusses after the show ends (4:03). William discusses the demise of his own career as the movie industry evolved (4:15). They reminisce on close memories between the group (4:34). A close shot shows a movie theater board advertising Hedda’s own first film; Hedda Hopper’s Hollywood (4:43). A slew of stars appear for the film including Jane Withers (4:48) at the Palace Theater. Joey Brown performs a comedy skit (4:58). A close shot shows a portion of Hedda’s column (5:17). Mary Pickford and Buddy Rogers appear (5:29). She mentions the pair were leaders in the Motion Picture Relief Fund (5:29). American film actor Roger Pryor addresses the crowd (5:34) introducing Mary Pickford (5:37). Mary joins Jean Hersholt in turning the first piece of earth on the land for construction (6:07). Ginny Sims (6:07) and Loretta Young turn out (6:10). Frank Freeman and Sam Goodwin appear (6:16). Eddie Arnold (6:23) unveils blue prints for the completed structure (6:23). Star studded guests attend the popular Mocambo; a West Hollywood night club (6:34). The Mocambo was situated on Sunset Boulevard. It opened in 1941 and closed in 1958. The string band bounces for dancers (6:40) on Saturday night. Dancing partners swing by (6:45). The brass band blows (6:49). Shirley Ross and her husband Ken Dolan swing in (7:15).  New newlyweds hang in the corner; director Ralph Murphy and Gloria Dickson (8:01). Lucille Ball’s husband, Desi Arnez watches the dance floor (8:28). The pair were frequent attendees of the night club. Anne Miller waves (8:33). Hedda bids viewers good night as the film concludes (9:09).
