The man shown at the beginning of the film, Charlie Wiman, is believed to have been Commodore Charles Wiman of the Santa Barbara Yacht Club, and master of the yacht Patolita shown in the film. More importantly, Wiman was also the president and owner of the John Deere Tractor Company in Moline, Illinois, and the only son of John Deere’s to live to adulthood.
