The majority of the films are produced by the American Lung Association while others focus on child immunization, UNICEF, and faith based community activism through the United States Catholic Conference. One film is promotional or recruitment material for the U.S. Navy. PSA #1 and #5: (0:08-1:08); (4:32-4:43). These PSAs promote the American Lung Association’s Super Stuff program to help kids with asthma. Both films feature school-aged children, and one of the films features LA Dodgers first baseman Steve Garvey. Young girl watches LA Dodgers training exercises (0:11). Both films feature school-aged children to spread its message, and one of the films also features Boston Red Sox left fielder Ted Williams. Film ends (2:48). PSA #4 and #6: (3:12-4:10); (5:06-6:06) These American Lung Association PSAs are anti-smoking films. One film tells the story of adult twins Jack and Fred who share everything in common except one twin smokes and one does not. The other film is of a school-aged girl interviewed in her classroom about lungs, breathing, and smoking. Montage clips two men living parallel lives: Leaving Tudor-style family homes, walking to their side-by-side parked Ford Pintos, other scenes emphasizing similar lifestyles (3:12). Family BBQ, dramatic close-up showing one of the men smokes and one doesn’t (3:45). Film ends (4:10). Young girl, Rachel, asked questions by off camera adult camera about lungs, breathing etc. in school classroom (5:06-6:06). PSA #7: (6:27-7:00). This PSA brings awareness to the International Year of the Child campaign, which was proclaimed in 1979 by UNESCO, and seeks to solicit donations for UNICEF.  Curmudgeon husband and kind wife in home office go back-and-forth about how to raise money for children’s charity (6:27). Credits (6:44). Film ends (7:00). PSA #8: (7:21-7:30).Produced by the Will Rogers Institute in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Children Immunization Program, this PSA brings awareness to the importance of vaccinating children. Produced by the U.S. Navy, this 80s-era recruitment promo emphasizes the hard work, training, and precision required by the men that work to refuel and resupply Navy ships at sea.
