It also appears to show an ingress / egress test with an astronaut in a spacesuit mock-up. The venue is likely Huntsville, Alabama's Marshall Space Flight Center. The footage probably dates to the run-up to the Apollo 17 mission in 1972. The film starts with footage of astronauts Jack Schmidt and Gene Cernan deploying an S-band antenna, and then shows an unpainted Lunar Module (possibly a mock-up) in a large hangar. At 6:40 a man in a mock-up spacesuit climbs the ladder of the LM and then at 9:10 descends. His activities are monitored by a team of men who speak to him via radio. At 10:30, close-up on the booties of the "astronaut" as he descends. At 12:21, the director of the Marshall Space Center Wernher Von Braun is seen in the crowd, gesturing animatedly. Von Braun also appears in much of the rest of the film. At 14:07 he is seen examining one of the "rock boxes" on the side of the LM. At 14:27 he is seen standing in front of a display about the S-band erectable antenna seen earlier. At 14:55 following, various members of the crowd climb the LM ladder (n.b. this footage seems to be repeated, and was probably shot by two cameras simultaneously). At 17:45 Von Braun descends from the LM (it appears he starts to go down backwards and is told to go down it correctly by staff). At 18:03 the hatch on the LM is shown. At 20:37, a man who appears to possibly be Christopher Kraft is seen speaking to three other men. At 20:50 some display items are seen including an STL engine chamber. Astronaut Alan Shepard is seen fiddling with a rock box around 22:00. We encourage viewers to add comments and, especially, to provide additional information about our videos by adding a comment!
