It was intended to be screened privately in designated War Department theaters. It was designed to maintain morale and intelligence on various campaigns. The film contains various segments. It begins with a tribute to the DUKW, an amphibious truck modified from the CCKW truck enabling faster ship to shore operations and considered a major American industrial innovation. “Combat Concerto" highlights unification and comradery on the warfront bred through music. An American pianist and singer perform for Russian pilots. "In the Bismarck Sea’" includes a personal account of the Bismarck Sea Battle from Australian Wing Commander Keith Hampshire as he stops in New York. "Back Home, Mobile Alabama" details Mobile’s shift from a quiet gulf coast town to a booming war machine. It explores war’s effect on home life; on youth and the role of women in wartime industry. The finale details the rise of the Japanese Imperial army including militaristic expansion and the Manchuria occupation with a focus on forced labor, exploitation of crops and the humanitarian impact of the invasion. Footage captures Admiral Yamamoto, a B5C Mitchell bomber nicknamed ‘Dirty Dora’ and the SS Cedar Mills.  The film was produced by the Signal Corps. Ease of operations are demonstrated (2:06). ‘Duck’ returns to an F.O.B camp (2:37). An Illyushin II-2 is uncovered from camouflage (4:24). The Russian singer performs atop a T-34 (526). ‘In the Bismark Sea’ (6:06) introduces Wing Commander Keith (6:35). He tours the Empire State Building (6:44) for a 1940’s NYC skyline view (7:08). Allied servicemen Edward Conner and bomber Peter ‘Duke’ Dukelow (722) recognize Keith (7:40). They discuss preparations for the Battle of the Bismarck Sea (8:22). Curtis P-40 Warhawk’s (9:25) are prepped for combat (9:27).  Base operations on the morning of March 2, 1943 include images of the B-25 (936) with a special focus on “Dirty Dora’ (9:38); a B-5C Mitchell bomber (serial #41-12971) flown by Victor Tatelman of the 499th squadron 345th bomb group (9:38). Images follow of a Bristol Beaufighter (9:51), Port Moresby (10:11), 5th air force wing gunners (10:35) strafing Japense war ships (10:38), bomb skipping (10:48) and a Bristol Blenheim (11:44). Mobile, Alabama’s (12:23) early history is depicted (12:28) leading into wartime, the shipping industry (13:41) and female welders (14:23). Weekly launchings (14:53) included the SS Cedar Mills; a Victory ship (14:59). March of Time presents “The Enemy in Japan” (15:20) under supervision of the Bureau of Aeronautics (15:32). US ambassador to Japan; Joesph C. Grew narrates (15:51). The section includes Mitsubishi G3M’s (17:08), gunners strafing ground installations (1712) and Hideki Tojo (1814) in 1941. Shots continue to follow the Japanese invasion of Manchuria (18:45), installation of Puppet Emperor Puyi (19:22), forced labor (20:05), crop exploitation (20:33) and opium promotion (20:44). The Nakajima Ki-27 (21:11), USS Augusta CA-31 (22:07), Ko-hyoteki class submarine (23:32), Nakajima E8N (24:01), type 89 I-Go medium tank (24:25) are captured within the Imperial drive for the Yangtze river. Forced labor workers construct new rail lines (26:49) and fortify stockpiles of Chinese goods for future war games (27:40). Plaza Lacson (28:01) and the Jones bridge in Manila (28:04) follow. A section focuses on hemp (28:20), chromite (28:31) and rubber production (28:49). The Culebra (29:32), British dry docks (29:47) and battlecruisers are pictured in Singapore (29:57). The final section shows Japanese officials exploiting resources from Java and Sumatra (30:13) and meeting with Hermann Goring and Hitler (33:05).
