It starts with a brief history of the need to connect the Upper Peninsula with the rest of Michigan and the long time it took to cross the strait by ferry. It covers the construction process in detail focusing on the placement of piers, the assembly of different steel pieces, and the laying of the suspension wires to ensure that the bridge stands. It also features detailed aerial, road, and water based shots of the completed bridge. 00:00 American Bridge Division, USS Presents, 0:18 “Mackinac Bridge Diary” 1958, 0:26 soldiers in the Toledo War, 0:49 map showing the territorial exchanges between Michigan and Ohio, 1:22 a copper mine on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, 1:39 aerial overview of different mines, 2:22 aerial overviews of Mackinac Island, 2:39 the Tahquamenon Falls, 3:11 a map of the straits of Mackinac, 3:42 newspaper article showing the first time the building of a bridge across the strait was mentioned, 4:32 a map showing a bridge plan over different islands in the strait, 5:15 a map showing the ferry operations between Mackinaw City and St. Ignace, 5:55 a proposed double span suspension bridge across the strait, 6:30 the Michigan State Senate Building, 6:48 Dr. David B.
