        <description>This black &amp; white educational film "Paths in Palestine" is about United States Navy sailors on a Mediterranean cruise visiting the Holy Land (Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Nazareth). The film is copyright 1934 and has some fascinating pre-war footage of what was at that time the British Mandate. Opening titles: Paths In Palestine (:06-:21). Buildings, camels, the marketplace. Donkeys and people. U.S. sailors walk the ancient city. A drink is poured for a man. The streets of Jerusalem. Men use hookah pipes (:22-1:58) and "Muslims, Jews and Christians walk the streets together". Muslim Shrine - The Mosque of Omar. Palestinians sit in the sun near the shrine. Men carry meat and walk. Bethlehem, the Church of Nativity, sailors look over a railing. A man works in the city (1:59-3:54). The River Jordan. Sailors row a boat on the sacred waters. Women carry jugs on their heads. Mary's well fills a jug with water. A child carries the jug on their head. Sailors drink from a jug (3:55-5:11). City of Nazareth. Youth of Palestine at work. An old man holds a young boy. Garden of Gethsemane and Mary's Well. A Franciscan friar cares for the garden. Sailors enter the garden (5:12-6:38). The Friar leads the sailors around. Stations of the Cross mark the sacred route that Jesus Christ walked on his way to Calvary. Sailors walk the route. The locals walk around. Some carry large items. The Church of the Holy Sepulcher. The sailors look at the sacred tomb which was found empty (6:39-8:35). End credits (8:36-8:38). Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed.
