At :17, the Lone Eagle is seen at Cherbourg, France, about to board the cruiser USS Memphis to sail home. At :45, exclusive pictures show Lindy at sea with the crew of the ship, learning how the big guns work and climbing aboard the ship's seaplane. At 1:21, Lindy looks through binoculars while at 1:29 the dirigible USS Los Angeles flies overhead. At 1:37, a triumphant welcome in New York Harbor features blimps, airplanes and ships. At 1:55, USS Memphis is docked and Lindy meets up with his mother. At 2:19, Lindy is greeted by huge crowds in Washington, D.C. A parade is held in his honor (2:30). At 2:46, President Coolidge greets Lindy and presents him with the Distinguished Flying Cross. Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed.
