Edward Griffin and presented by the conservative John Birch Society. A piece of pure propaganda, the film claims that the Civil Rights Movement and protests of the 1960s are part of a worldwide communist revolution that will lead to the creation of a communist African American state. The film uses photos and clips from the Civil Rights Movement as its evidence of the Movement trying to gain sympathy from the public for its cause. Note: Other sources list the film’s total running time as 76 minutes. This 36 minute version is a shortened cut of the film, intended for distribution to clubs, community groups and classrooms. At another talk, a man addresses an audience holding confederate flags as they applause (1:42) Martin Luther King, Jr. gives a talk and a photograph of African American men holding hands in solidarity (2:20) Listing the first two key phases the film identifies about the Civil Rights Movement: “divide the people” and “create an appearance of popular support” (2:26) A woman speaks about communists appropriating the Civil Rights Movement to support their agenda (4:13) A crowd walks and holds up picket signs for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (4:35) Photos of African Americans holding up “FREEDOM NOW” signs. Johnson (24:40) The Selma to Montgomery marches of 1965 and its related demonstrations, resulting in the Voting Rights Act of 1965 (27:11) Explanation of the documentary’s key argument: world domination of the “international communist conspiracy”.
